Wow, the inaugural post, a time for excitement and anticipation. In case you are like me, and have no idea what is going to happen on this blog, this is what I envision. It will be a quick read since I don't want to bore anyone, and it will include some funny videos, some of my sure to be wrong sports picks, a CD review here and there, and anything else I feel will be at least slightly entertaining...so without further ado, and in the immortal words of the Black Eyed Peas..."Let's Get Retarded".
SPORTS
Last nights baseball all star game was rather uneventful, but here are a few observations...
-Do we really need 45 minutes of pregame fodder? Willie Mays riding around in a car waving to the fans, Eric Byrnes and his dog hanging out in a kayak in McCovey Cove, let's get to the game already. How can we expect our children to grow up loving the sport when the game doesn't end until almost midnight eastern time?
-Ichiro hits the first inside the park homerun in all-star game history...thank God for that banner.
-AL manager Jim Leyland was visibly upset in the ninth as his team almost blew a 3 run ninth inning lead. Hey Jim, it's only an exhibition game for Christ Sake. Do you think he wants home field advantage in the World Series?
-NL Manager Tony LaRussa decided against inserting the best player on his team, Albert Puhols, into the game in the 9th with the winning runs on base. Sure, Orlando Hudson and Aaron Rowand were all-stars, but you have a future hall of famer on the bench with a bat in his hand. Albert was quick to voice his displeasure in the media, but my guess is that LaRussa did not want to play Puhols at 2b in the event the game continued to extra innings.
In Trade rumors: I think the White Sox will trade Dye and Contreras to the Mets in the next week...remember you heard it here 1st.
